Avoiding Frozen Pipes:
Do not turn the heat down too low or off when extreme cold is expected.
Insulate water and heat lines that are located in outside walls.
If you suspect you have a frozen pipe, call a plumber promptly, thawing the pipe properly can prevent broken lines from occurring.
Avoid Loosing your Hot Water Heater:
Check the date of manufacture on your tank annually, replace the tank if it is over 7 years old.
Look around the bottom of your tank for signs of corrosion or moisture, this can be a sign that the tank is nearly the end of it's product life.
Experiencing an issue with rusty hot water, contact a plumber, it is time for a new heater.
